About

herbmug.jpgAs the Web Operations Manager at News & Record Interactive, I get to direct the day-to-day operations the News & Record’s Web sites.

I’ve been a journalist for since 1984 where I began my career as a sports editorial assistant at The News Journal. I left Delaware in 1990 to become a sports writer at the Norwich Bulletin in Connecticut. After serving as a reporter, copy editor and editor in Connecticut, I moved to Greensboro, N.C., as a copy editor at the News & Record in 1993.

The siren call of one of the top newspapers in the country was too much, though, and I left for the St. Petersburg Times in 1995, only to be drawn back to Greensboro in 1996 for — dare I say it — a woman, and to return to school. I’ve been in Greensboro ever since.

During my second run at the Gate City, I graduated the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a degree in information systems and operations management, in 2000. And I recently completed the requirements for a master’s in business administration at Elon University and I’ll graduate in May ‘07.
